A race track hosting its first night race is an exciting event, and race fans will get to enjoy that special occasion this Saturday night.
After some 900 miles of racing last fall, drivers and teams will be ready to battle under the lights when the green flag waves for The Race, and I am not talking about the night race at the Texas Motor Speedway, I am talking about North Wilkesboro.
Yes, the track that lost its NASCAR dates because of the Texas Motor Speedway will play host to the PASS Late Model Series under the lights this Saturday night.
Over 70 drivers will be on hand hoping to earn one of the 45 starting spots in the grid for the 300-lap, $75,000 to win event known as The Race.
Among the drivers in the field; Geoff Bodine and Sterling Marlin both former winners of the Daytona 500, Jeff Choquette winner of the Sunoco National Tour race at North Wilkesboro last fall, Erik Darnell, Jay Fogleman, Cale Gale, Zack Germain, Hal Goodson, Mario Gosslin, Joey Coulter, Bubba Pollard, Ryan Blaney, and Clay Alexander. A complete drivers list can be found at www.proallstarsseries.com along with complete event details and the schedule of events and support races.
This could be the most competitive late model event all year, and if have missed Wilkesboro or never attended a race at this historic track, you owe it to yourself to be there Saturday.
