Droppin' the Hammer will take the green flag this Saturday morning at 10:00am for two hours of local, regional, and national racing coverage. You can catch us on the airways of ESPN Spartanburg (97.1-FM, 1400-AM) and on the web at http://www.espnspartanburg.com/
From time to time some of our listeners have commented about the sound quality. While we are on the air, if something sounds too loud, too low, over modulated, or we are talking over each other like other shows do; Let us know by calling the studio hot line, 864-573-1400.
This week on Droppin’ the Hammer: We will check in with two drivers preparing to tackle the high banks at Bristol Motor Speedway in the NASCAR K&N East Series; Ryan Gifford and Bryan Ortiz. Gifford brought home a third place finish last spring at Bristol and Ortiz finished the season in fifth place in the final points standings. Both drivers will be looking for solid runs and perhaps a couple of wins this month as the series will leave Bristol this Saturday for the historic Greenville Pickens Speedway next Saturday. We will ask them both about going racing at two half mile tracks that are about as different as you can get.
Kenneth Headen, former track champion at GPS, will be looking for a race win at Hickory and another championship season in the Southeast Super Truck Series. We will ask Kenneth about his schedule for 2013 and if the late model will be on track with the truck.
Kalob Jackson will stop by the studio to talk about racing in the Young Guns division at Harris Motor Speedway. Harris has some of the best young drivers week end and week out and we will ask Kalob about the competition on track.
UARA Announcer Tony Stevens will give us a race report from Southern National and preview the next stop on the UARA schedule, the Hickory Motor Speedway.
The Legends guest will be Len Wood, member of the Wood Brothers Racing team will join Greg, Dale and Ronnie to talk about the new #21 Ford Fusion. Will give us insight on how this new car has transformed and will get his thoughts on the 2013 season so far.
